Roofing in south Louisiana runs on weather. One named storm can bring a month of calls in a week, and then the trucks with out-of-state plates roll in. Acadiana homeowners remember 2020, when Laura and then Delta came through about six weeks apart, and plenty remember a crew that took a deposit and disappeared. Your marketing has two jobs: be findable when the storm hits, and be obviously local when the homeowner starts checking.

Standing out from storm chasers
After a storm, homeowners are cautious, and they’re right to be. We build your online presence around the proof a storm chaser can’t fake:
Your license, front and center
Your LSLBC license number on your site, profile, and estimates, so a homeowner can look you up in a minute.
A real local address
A verified Google Business Profile tied to your actual shop or office, not a rented mailbox or a hotel room.
Reviews that go back years
Steady reviews across seasons show you were here before the storm and will be here after. Our guide to getting more Google reviews covers how.
Real job photos
Your crews, your trucks, and roofs in neighborhoods people recognize, from Youngsville subdivisions to older homes in Abbeville.

The insurance conversation, and the new rules around it
Many of your best leads are homeowners with an insurance claim and a lot of questions, but Louisiana changed the rules on how far a roofer can go. Recent legislation prohibits contractors from interpreting insurance policies, adjusting claims, or negotiating claims for homeowners, and that includes advertising yourself as an “insurance claim specialist.” The Louisiana Fortify Homes Program’s contractor rules say the same thing for participating roofers.
So we don’t write “we handle your insurance claim” or “we’ll get your claim approved.” We write content that explains the process honestly: document the damage, call your insurer, get a licensed roofer’s inspection and written estimate, and understand what happens next. That builds trust and keeps you on the right side of the law.
Licensing changed too. Since January 1, 2026, residential roofing work above the threshold set in Act 422 requires a Residential Roofing or Residential Construction classification from the LSLBC, and that applies to advertising and bidding the work, not only doing it. More in our post on the 2026 LSLBC changes for contractors.

FORTIFIED roofs: content for the months without storms
The Louisiana Fortify Homes Program, run by the Louisiana Department of Insurance, awards grants by lottery to help homeowners install roofs built to the IBHS FORTIFIED standard, and Lafayette and several other Acadiana parishes have been included in recent rounds. State law also requires insurers to adjust rates for homes with fortified roofs. Participating roofers need IBHS FORTIFIED certification, the right LSLBC license, and specific insurance coverage.
If you’re certified, that’s a year-round marketing opportunity. We build pages and posts explaining what a FORTIFIED roof is, how the lottery works, and when registration opens, so homeowners find you months before they’re ready. If you’re not certified, it’s worth weighing.
Winning a crowded map pack
“Roofer near me” and “roof repair Lafayette” are crowded searches that get more crowded after every storm. Google’s map pack weighs relevance, distance, and prominence. Our post on how the Google map pack works walks through it. In roofing, that means:
Accurate service areas
for the towns you really cover, plus town pages that show jobs you’ve done there.
Specific services listed separately
repairs, full replacements, metal roofs, storm damage inspections, commercial work if you do it.
Fast response
Our marketing automation texts back missed calls instantly, which matters when your phone won’t stop ringing the week after a hurricane.
Paid coverage during spikes
Google Ads and Local Services Ads let you turn visibility up when demand jumps and down when your schedule is full.

How we work with roofers
We start with a free audit of your profile, reviews, site, and license display. Then we fix trust signals and response gaps, build service and town pages through our local SEO in Lafayette work, and set a content calendar that runs through hurricane season (June through November) and the quiet months alike. You get plain-English reports every month. SEO in roofing takes months and nobody controls Google. We take one client per niche per area, so we won’t market a competing roofer in your market. For other trades, see our contractor and home services page.

Areas we serve, and how to start
We work with roofing companies in Lafayette, Youngsville, Broussard, Scott, and Carencro, and across Acadiana to Abbeville, New Iberia, Crowley, and beyond. See our areas we serve page for more.
Before the next storm, request a free visibility audit and we’ll show you where you appear for roofing searches, how your reviews and trust signals compare, and what we’d fix first. Pricing depends on market and scope, and we quote it after the audit. Or email me at kayce@abodetheagency.com.
Roofing marketing in Lafayette: frequently asked questions
Can a roofing company advertise that it helps with insurance claims?
Be careful. Louisiana now prohibits contractors from interpreting policies, adjusting or negotiating claims, and advertising themselves as insurance claim specialists. You can explain the general claims process and provide inspections and written estimates, but your marketing shouldn’t promise to handle the claim.
What license do I need to advertise residential roofing in Louisiana?
Since January 1, 2026, residential roofing work above the threshold in Act 422 requires a Residential Roofing or Residential Construction classification from the LSLBC, and the requirement covers advertising and bidding as well as performing the work.
What is the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program?
It’s a Louisiana Department of Insurance program that awards grants by lottery to help homeowners install roofs built to the IBHS FORTIFIED standard. Lafayette and several other Acadiana parishes have been eligible in recent rounds, and participating roofers must be FORTIFIED-certified and properly licensed.
How do local roofers compete with storm chasers online?
By making trust easy to verify. Show your license number, keep a verified local Google profile, build reviews steadily year-round, and use real photos of your own crews and jobs.
What should a roofer post when there hasn’t been a storm?
Maintenance tips, inspection reminders before hurricane season, FORTIFIED roof explainers, project spotlights, and honest guides to the insurance process. It keeps your profile active between busy seasons.
